After School LEGO Club for ages 7-12 | Term 3 2024

After School STEM Program | Tuesday afternoons, 3:30-5pm | Book now for Term 3!

From catapults to balloon powered vehicles, cargo ships to jumping robots, LEGO Club is a must for all aspiring LEGO masters aged 7-12! Join us each Tuesday after school in Term 3 to learn STEM skills, take part in epic engineering design challenges, make new friends and have lots of fun.

Parents and carers are welcome to stay and participate, or can drop off their child and return at pickup time.

BOOK NOW FOR TERM 3, 2024 – limited places left!

  • CLASS SIZE = Capped at 20 places (sold out last term, so get in quick!)
  • AGE = for ages 7-12 only (Year 2-6 at school)
  • COST = Cost for 9 sessions is $180 per term. Science Space members and UOW Staff receive a 10% discount. We are unfortunately unable to accept Creative Kids Vouchers at the moment – contact our office for more details.
  • TIMES
    • DROP OFF = Drop off time from 3:30pm for a 15min afternoon tea break (BYO snacks/water bottle) and introductory activity (e.g. free LEGO play, colour in sheet).
    • WEEKLY PROGRAM = 60min program will officially start at 3:45pm and finish at 4:45pm.
    • PICK UP = Pick up time is between 4:45pm and 5pm. Please ensure your child is collected NO later than 5pm.

PLEASE NOTE – Please advise on the online booking form if your child has any additional needs or requirements so that we can best accommodate them in the weekly sessions (carers/support workers are encouraged for participants with high needs).

WEEKLY PROGRAM – starts week 2 of Term 3, 2024

We will be starting week 2 of Term 3 2024 to allow a chance for your child to settle into their weekly routine for the new school term.

Tuesday 30th July = LEGO Vertical Build Challenge
To kick of LEGO Club for Term 3 we are going to be building vertically… literally! Get to know your new LEGO Club friends for Term 3 as we design world maps, treasure maps, vertical gardens, rock climbing walls, epic murals and more! Join us for a fun-tastic afternoon of teamwork and creativity!

Tuesday 6th August = LEGO Catapult Challenge
Ready, set, launch! Investigate forces and motion as we create working catapults from LEGO and other materials. Test your medieval designs with different projectiles as we battle to storm the castle! 

Tuesday 13th August = LEGO Zoo Design Challenge
Oh no – our LEGO zoo is about to open and all the animals have gone missing! Build a wild creature from LEGO and design a suitable habitat for it to live in. 

Tuesday 20th August 2024 = Balloon Powered LEGO Vehicles 
Calling all junior automotive engineers! Enter our LEGO factory as you design and test balloon powered cars. Are your vehicle creations fit for the road? Which design will travel the fastest and furthest?

Tuesday 27th August 2024 = LEGO Shipyard Challenge 
Calling all LEGO masters! Enter our shipyard as we explore the Engineering Design Process. Design LEGO cargo ships that can hold the most weight possible then compete in our sailboat championship! Whose sailboat will travel the fastest?

Tuesday 3rd September 2024 = Zipline Challenge 
Explore slopes and gravity in our LEGO zipline challenge. Create a LEGO cable car that can travel down our zipline in the fastest time possible! Are you up for the challenge?

Tuesday 10th & 17th September = LEGO Robotics
From vehicles to wacky machines, solve a variety of challenges and scenarios using LEGO robotics. Over 2 epic weeks we will put your programming skills to the test as you create code sequences on iPads for your LEGO inventions! 

Tuesday 24th September = End of Term Show & Tell Week / LEGO Robot Race

Parents and carers are invited for our end of term show and tell week – work together to build your own custom LEGO ‘Hopper’ design to compete in our robot race! We will also have the chance for parents to check out what the kids have been busy working on at LEGO Club with our Term 3 slideshow on the big screen.
