ART & SCIENCE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!
These Winter holidays we will be exploring the relationship between the creative arts and science, technology, engineering and maths! With live science shows, out of this world adventures in the Planetarium, hands-on pop up activities and Curiosity Days for ages 5-12, there is something for everyone these school holidays.

Winter Holidays Show Schedule
- Our shows are general audience shows and are suitable for all ages. Shows are approximately 20min in duration.
- The General Entry Pass does not include show tickets
- The Combined Pass offers discounted general entry plus 1 planetarium ticket and 1 science show ticket per person. Shows can only be selected on arrival. Some shows may have limited availability at peak busy times so early arrival is advised if you wish to see specific shows.
- Show tickets are required for all visitors aged 2+ years. All children must be accompanied by an adult in our planetarium and science theatre

Sound & Music *NEW*
Listen in to the exciting world of sound with our latest show designed for little learners! Through fun and engaging experiments, we will explore how sounds are made and changed as we play with the science behind volume and pitch. Join us through this interactive show as we get loud in an entertaining and educational way.
Rubbish Science
Discover the art of transforming trash into treasure with our interactive and engaging show. Rummage through the fascinating world of upcycling as we explore the ways we can turn common garbage into amazing experiments. Perfect for messy makers and thrifty thinkers, The Rubbish Science Show makes learning about science fun and accessible on a budget.
Up In Flames
Spark your curiosity as we explore the science of fire! Navigate the dynamic combination of heat, oxygen, and fuel in our exciting and spectacular show. Our amazing demonstrations on how fires are created, changed, and extinguished, will be burned into your memories. This explosive educational experience is perfect for those with a burning desire to learn—but remember, do not try this at home!

Musical Universe
How far can we ‘see’ into Outer Space? Produced in-house here at UOW Science Space planetarium, Musical Universe reveals just how vast our observable universe is as we travel to the furthest reaches of Space! Set to a relaxing soundtrack, art meets science in this visually spectacular feature suitable for all ages.
The Earth Above: A Deep Time View of Australia’s Epic History *NEW*
From the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH) in collaboration with First Nations communities and MotionLab and UOW Science Space. The show explores Australia’s past 140,000 years, incorporating traditional and scientific knowledges to tell Australia’s epic story and transport viewers to four locations: Girraween Lagoon outside Darwin in the NT, Cloggs Cave in Victoria’s East Gippsland region, Lake Mungo in NSW and Jiigurru (Lizard Island) on the Great Barrier Reef. We explore Australia ancient and epic history through stunning visuals and stories.
Night Sky Live
Join us for a breathtaking cosmic journey that inspires, and rekindles your wonder for the night sky. This live, presenter-led show reveals the captivating stories behind the stars and constellations whilst exploring the impact of light pollution and potential dangers of space junk.

Unleash your inner maestro by dancing across our giant digital piano floor projection, where every step turns into a musical masterpiece!
Mega Duplo Wall
Take your imagination to new heights on our giant pop-up vertical Duplo Wall! Test your creativity and engineering skills by building amazing visual masterpieces out of Duplo bricks.
Mobius Strips
Discover the magic of mathematics by creating a strange one-sided paper surface known as a Mobius Strip – a mind bending experience for all ages!
Origami
Learn the ancient art of origami and discover how to fold paper into beautiful, intricate shapes! Can you create the impossible triangle or rectangle?
Spirograph Station
Create some incredible spirograph designs and explore the connections between art and mathematical principles.
Mandala Art
Mandalas are circular patterns that help us to think about the maths concepts of geometry and symmetry. Colour in your own science-themed mandala to take home.
Sound Science
Strum, shake and tap different musical instruments as you explore the science of sound! Learn about pitch, volume and vibrations and how sound travels from an instrument to your ear.
Mirror Dance
See your reflection dance, stretch and twist with our giant distorting mirrors, exploring the playful intersection of optical illusions and artistic expression.
Curiosity Days for ages 5-12 !
Spark curiosity and creativity these school holidays!
Our popular Curiosity Days for ages 5-12 years are back this Winter break. With two different themed programs to choose from, we’ve also extended the hours to 8:30am-4:30pm for a full day of fun, action, and discovery! There will be the opportunity to enjoy both a live science show and an intergalactic adventure in our planetarium, with ample time to explore our interactive exhibits and pop-up school holiday activities. Each child will also receive a certificate of participation and a $5 gift voucher for our Science Shop.

LEGO Curiosity Day – limited places left!
Tuesday 9th July, 8:30am-4:30pm *NEW EXTENDED HOURS*
Calling all junior LEGO masters! Join us for a fun-filled day of LEGO engineering activities and design LEGO ziplines, bridges, towers and much more. Compete in our destruction challenge and see if your structure can survive a simulated earthquake!
Robots & Gaming Curiosity Day – almost sold out!
Thursday 11th July, 8:30am-4:30pm *NEW EXTENDED HOURS*
Unleash your inner inventor and gamer! Create your own DIY video game controller with Makey Makey, design and play custom video games using Bloxels and Pixicade, then code Sphero robots to paint a unique masterpiece. Join us for a day packed with innovation, technology and excitement!
