Get ready to dive into the exciting world of superhero science! This school break, we’ll explore the extraordinary powers that connect science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths. From action-packed live science shows and heroic space adventures in the Planetarium to hands-on pop-up activities and Superpower Curiosity Days for ages 5-12, there’s something super for everyone. Come discover the science behind your favourite heroes and create your own super abilities these holidays!
We will be open every day from 10am-4pm (including Wednesdays and the October long weeekend). UOW Science Space and our Shop both close promptly at 4pm. Our kiosk will be open from 11am-2pm weekdays serving drinks, snacks and light meals.

Green Screen Portraits
Lights, camera, action! Step into the spotlight and become your favourite superhero at our green screen. Suit up, strike a pose, and explore the Hollywood magic behind epic special effects as you have your free family portrait taken.
Superhero Mask making
Unleash your creativity and become a hero! Join our hands-on maker activity these school holidays to design and decorate your very own custom superhero mask – perfect for saving the day in style!
Superhero Play Zone
A superhero-themed loose parts play space designed for little builders with big imaginations! Younger visitors can build towering skyscrapers, design epic cityscapes, and team up with various superheroes to save the day.
Superhero Encounters
Meet some of your favourite superheroes in person these school holidays at UOW Science Space thanks to the team at Illawarra’s Friendly Neighbourhood Spidey and The Cosplay Guardian! Join Bumblebee & Optimus Prime (from Transformers), Deadpool, Batman, Spiderman, X-23 Wolverine and more for epic photo ops, exclusive meet-and-greets, and a behind-the-scenes look at how their amazing costumes come to life with electronics, 3D printing, and textiles!

Spring Holidays Show Schedule
- Our shows are general audience shows and are suitable for all ages. Shows are approximately 20min in duration.
- The General Entry Pass does not include show tickets.
- The Combined Pass offers discounted general entry plus 1 planetarium ticket and 1 science show ticket per person. Shows can only be selected on arrival. Some shows may have limited availability at peak busy times so early arrival is advised if you wish to see specific shows.
- Due to the planetarium operating its back up system, planetarium tickets are reduced to $2.00 per ticket per show.
- Show tickets are required for all visitors aged 2+ years. All children must be accompanied by an adult in our planetarium and science theatre.
- For safety reasons there is strictly no late entry into planetarium or theatre shows

Curiosity Days for ages 5-12!

Our popular Curiosity Days for ages 5-12 years are back these Spring holidays with two different themed programs to choose from. We’ve also extended the Curiosity Day hours to 8:30am-4:30pm giving your young heroes a full day of action-packed adventure and supercharged discovery.

LEGO Film Making
Wednesday 2 October, 8.30 am – 4.30 pm
Calling all aspiring film makers keen to direct their own blockbuster! Join our LEGO film crew to learn classic stop motion techniques as you produce a brick-tastic short film using superhero minifigs and more. Over one epic day you will learn about storyboarding, set design, animation and film editing! Get ready to create a cinematic adventure where heroes rise, villains fall, and your imagination saves the day.
Game Designers
Wednesday 9 October, 8.30 am – 4.30 pm
Unleash your inner game designer and become the hero of your own digital universe! Create a unique superhero character (or villain!) then build your own DIY video game controller with Makey Makey. Design and play custom video games where your hero takes centre stage using Bloxels and Pixicade. Get ready to power up and game on in the ultimate day of innovation and technology.
