New Visitation Guidelines

While we believe vaccination is the best protection against the effects of COVID-19 as from 16th December all members of our community are welcome and proof of vaccination will not be required but we do ask unvaccinated guests to wear a mask. All bookings will take place online and visitors will be required to book online to provide their details and answer COVID screening questions including vaccination status.

To keep children in the community safe, comply with Australian Government regulations and NSW Government Guidelines for Businesses in regard to COVID-19, the following Conditions of Entry apply upon entry to the Science Space until further notice. Conditions of Entry are also subject to change at short notice to comply with amendments to Public Health Orders.

Mandatory Check-in

Visiting the Science Space will require electronic check in via Service NSW app prior to entry. The QR scan in codes will be displayed on the entry doors to the building and in the reception area. A member of our team will ask to see the ‘green tick’ on your Service NSW app and check it relates to our premises before entering. If it is not possible to check in using your device, please see a staff member for an alternate sign-in method. If a person refuses to check in at our premises, we may refuse entry. For fast, contact free check in we recommend downloading the Service NSW app to your smartphone or create your own check in card to carry with you.

COVID-19 digital certificate

From 18 October 2021, all visitors aged 16 years and above will be required to confirm their double vaccination status and their capacity to provide their COVID-19 digital certificate when booking online to visit the Science Space until further notice. Instructions are available on the Services Australia website regarding ways to access COVID-19 vaccination status documentation. If a person over the age of 16 does not declare that they have received a double vaccination of an approved COVID-19 vaccine before entering our premises, entry will be refused.

Face Masks

The rules around face mask as mandated by NSW health guideline will need to be followed. You must wear a face mask at all times when visiting the Science Space. Children 12 years and under are exempt but are encouraged to wear masks where practicable. You are not required to wear a mask if you have a physical or mental health illness or condition, or disability, that makes wearing a mask unsuitable. For example, if you have a skin condition, an intellectual disability, autism or trauma. If a person refuses to wear a face mask at our premises without proof of a  medical exemption, we may refuse entry.

COVID-19 HEALTH SCREENING­ PRIOR TO VISITING

• You do not have any symptoms associated with COVID-19 (e.g. fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, sneezing/runny nose or loss of sense of smell or taste)
• You do not have COVID-19 nor are you awaiting the results from being tested for COVID-19
• You have not been in contact with any known or suspected cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days
• You have not been at a location communicated by NSW Health during a particular time period where there was a confirmed case and are not considered a casual or close contact, subject to self-isolation or mandatory COVID-19 testing
• If you are over 16 years of age, you have received a double dose vaccination of an approved COVID-19 vaccination

Physical distancing.

• Bookings are essential. Members and guests (inclusive of children under 12 months of age) are required to pre-book admission online. Open weekdays 10am-4pm (closed on Wednesdays during NSW Term) and on weekends and school holidays with a capacity limit. Planetarium and Science Theatre operate weekends and school holidays only. CLOSED on selected Public Holidays.
• Please follow signage and markers on the floor at entrances for correct entry and exit flow.
• Where reasonably practical, please respect others and look after your own and your child/children’s personal safety by complying with 1.5 metres of physical distance. Reduce crowding wherever possible.
• Use the hand sanitiser provided before and after exhibit use. Reduce crowding wherever possible.

 Hygiene and cleaning

• Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat and shortness of breath. Other reported symptoms of COVID-19 include loss of smell, loss of taste, runny nose, muscle pain, joint pain, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting and loss of appetite. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia with severe acute respiratory distress.
• Anyone with respiratory symptoms (such as cough, sore/scratchy throat or shortness of breath) or unexplained fever should be tested for COVID-19. If you or your child/children have any of these symptoms or are feeling unwell, please do not attend the Science Space. If you or your child/children present with these symptoms entry will be refused.
• Adopt good hand hygiene practices.
• Frequently used areas are cleaned daily with detergent and/or disinfectant. Frequently touched areas and surfaces are cleaned several times per day.
• We prefer contactless payment options, cash handling is avoided where possible.
• Prior to entry or using equipment please use hand sanitiser provided before and after use.

Additional General Conditions of Entry & Privacy Notice

By entering Science Space you agree to the following Conditions of Entry. You agree to follow the directions and instructions of the Science Space staff.

You understand that failure to comply may result in a request to leave the facility or being denied entry. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. For all groups, we suggest a minimum ratio of 1 adult per 5 children. School groups should follow the required ratio of teachers and caregivers approved by their principal.
Please take reasonable care of your own health and safety and ensure you and any child/children in your care do not adversely affect the safety of others or cause any damage to property at the Science Space. Visitors, (or in the case of children, the adult accompanying a child/children) will be liable for any damage caused to Science Space property and premises resulting from the visitor’s conduct.
Food and drink are only to be consumed in Science Space gardens. Hot beverages should be consumed preferably while seated in a kiosk area. If hot beverages are consumed, please make sure that you do not leave the food / drink unattended or allow children to handle them. Smoking is prohibited in the Science Space (including the garden) and on the Innovation Campus. Visitors must not consume, use or bring alcohol or illegal substances into Science Space.
In the event that attendance exceeds capacity as deemed by management, visitors may be required to wait before gaining access.

Please report all incidents and accidents to a Science Space employee immediately. We do not carry medication (including Epipen and asthma relievers).

Please dispose of all rubbish, recycling, nappies etc. in the appropriate bins provided. The Science Space is not responsible for any lost, stolen or left behind items. Lost property will be sent to UOW security and held for 7 days after which any unclaimed items will be donated to charity. Vehicles in the carpark are parked at your own risk. We will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any vehicle. We can’t guarantee a germ-free environment – if you or your child/children become unwell during your visit, please notify a Science Space employee or volunteer.

PHOTOGRAPHS AND RECORDINGS – PRIVACY NOTICE
Visitors are welcome to take photographs and video recordings of themselves and their children during their visit. Please respect the privacy of other visitors when taking photographs or videos. Any photographs and video recordings taken by visitors should be for personal use only. Visitors may be photographed or have video footage of themselves and their dependents taken by Science Space employees & official UOW photographers. We will seek your permission to use photographs or recordings for specified purposes related to the Science Space and UOW in accordance with Science Space Privacy Protocols (which are available online) changed or please ask a Science Space employee to see a copy of the Science Space Privacy Protocols. Please notify a Science Space employee if you do not wish to be photographed or recorded during your visit.
