Science Space, in partnership with South32, is excited to share our recent collaboration – TAKEAWAY STEM.

While we believe vaccination is the best protection against the effects of COVID-19 as from 16th December all members of our community are welcome and proof of vaccination will not be required but we do ask unvaccinated guests to wear a mask. All bookings will take place online and visitors will be required to book online to provide their details and answer COVID screening questions including vaccination status.

This week, we are looking at BACKYARD SCIENCE. At Science Space, when we talk about backyard science, it is not only in our own physical backyard but in general the living world around us.

Botanists have used flower pressing for hundreds of years. Create your own mini flower press to preserve flowers, leaves and buds from around your playground or backyard. Did you know a botanist is a scientist who studies flowers and plants? As a budding botanist yourself, it is important to collect as much information (or ‘data’) about your samples. This will help with accurate identification in the future and assist scientists with research into where particular plants are found over time.

On Tuesday, Science Space had the pleasure of being selected as a LIVE cross-location for the Channel 9 TODAY show weather segment!

Our special guests this week were just extraordinary. Inspirational and accomplished in their own fields of expertise, both special guests are turning heads in the scientific community in a good way.
